Forbes Japan expands scope of Xtrepreneur Award 2026

#ecosystem, #innovation

Forbes JAPAN has announced the launch of the Xtrepreneur Award 2026, an initiative recognizing co-creation projects that combine legacy assets with innovation to address complex social challenges. Now in its fourth year, the program will be co-hosted with NTT Docomo Business, strengthening its support for next-generation collaboration.

A key shift this year is the expansion of eligibility. While previous editions focused primarily on large enterprise-led initiatives, the 2026 award will welcome a wider range of participants—including startups, mid-sized companies, and local governments. The move reflects a growing recognition that innovation increasingly emerges from diverse, cross-sector partnerships.

The concept of “Xtrepreneur” refers to individuals who drive projects through collaboration across organizations, utilizing existing assets while creating new value. The award aims to highlight such efforts and promote the development of Japan’s co-creation ecosystem.

Applications will open from April to May, followed by a two-stage selection process in June. Winners will be announced in August, with featured coverage in Forbes JAPAN’s print and digital platforms in September.
