#medical, #news, #deeptech

Hiroshima University Hospital has introduced Japan's first "mobile ICU" ambulance, a specialized high-capacity rescue vehicle equipped with advanced medical equipment and telehealth systems. The vehicle is retrofitted from a microbus and can transport critically ill patients requiring ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) and mechanical ventilation over distances previously considered unsafe. It features 5G-enabled real-time video transmission and data sharing with the hospital, allowing continuous critical care delivery during transport. The system enables treatment of patients from areas up to 100km away from the hospital.
