JAL launches JAL Innovation Fund II

#funding, #vc

Japan Airlines (JAL) has established its second corporate venture capital fund, JAL Innovation Fund II. The new fund builds on the foundation of the first JAL Innovation Fund launched in 2019 and introduces a fully in-house investment structure.

The fund will be managed by Japan Airlines Ventures (JALV), a wholly owned U.S.-based subsidiary newly established by JAL. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, JALV will lead investment decisions and strategic collaboration with startups worldwide. By internalizing operations that were previously conducted in partnership with external entities, JAL aims to accelerate decision-making and strengthen alignment between investments and business strategy.

JAL Innovation Fund II will continue investing in core aviation-related areas such as sustainability and next-generation mobility, while also expanding into frontier domains beyond the airline industry. By identifying emerging technologies and innovative business models, JAL seeks to capture new growth opportunities and respond proactively to future societal changes.
