Future Space Transportation Systems, a startup based out of Tokyo, announced at at a press conference on 28th October that they have entered into a business partnership with Japan Travel to realize space tourism. They plan to offer trips enabling stays in space by the 2040s, with reservations opening as early as 2026. Pricing is projected at around ¥100 million per person.

ISC will develop the transport vehicles for space travel, while Japan Travel will create the programs. Specifically, three steps are envisioned: Space Tour 1.0, for experiencing space food and other activities on Earth; Space Tour 2.0, for high-speed transport between Japan and the US in under 60 minutes; and Space Tour 3.0, for leaving Earth and staying in space.
