JBIC Survey Reveals Trends in Japanese Companies' Overseas Expansion

#ecosystem, #news

A recent survey by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) revealed that the ratio of overseas sales for Japanese companies reached a record high of 40.9%, and that 63.2% of companies plan to "strengthen or expand" their overseas operations within the next three years. On the other hand, there are still many cases where companies are forced to withdraw from overseas operations within a few years due to a lack of market research or cultural understanding.

Asia accounts for the overwhelming majority of expansion destinations, at approximately 68%, with ASEAN and China being particularly dominant.

Against the backdrop of a shrinking domestic market, overseas expansion is becoming increasingly important as a growth strategy. Overseas sales now account for 40.9% of Japanese companies' revenue, and overseas operations are becoming a major pillar of profitability.
