KDDI Research Institute and Nokia successfully developed and demonstrated "4-dimensional resource control technology" on April 20, 2026, achieving simultaneous high-quality communication and reduced base station power consumption for sustainable 6G deployment. The technology achieved up to 40% power reduction in base stations and realized up to 4 times faster communication speed at equivalent power consumption, demonstrating the feasibility of advanced resource management techniques. This world-first achievement addresses a critical requirement in Japan's Beyond 5G (6G) technology strategy for ultra-low power consumption, and both companies plan to pursue standardization through 3GPP for 6G specifications.
