Kumamoto Prefecture is intensifying its policy efforts to cluster semiconductor startups. It will hold its first pitch contest dedicated to semiconductor business ideas in February 2026. A specialized support window providing comprehensive assistance for startup procedures will also be established. This initiative aims to foster and attract startups as part of their Science Park concept, which seeks to build industrial clusters around the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC)'s Kumamoto plant.

The Kumamoto Semiconductor Green Innovation Council (KSGI), an organization composed of semiconductor-related companies in Kumamoto Prefecture, joins major companies such as the Sony Group and TSMC's semiconductor manufacturing subsidiary as panel judges.
