LPIXEL Corporation and Olympus jointly developed EIRL Surgery LC, a surgical support AI for laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which received manufacturing and sales approval in May 2026. The product displays anatomical landmarks during surgery on a monitor, and physician recognition accuracy of anatomical landmarks was confirmed to improve.

Japan performs approximately 120,000 laparoscopic cholecystectomy surgeries annually, while bile duct injuries, a serious complication, occur in about 600 surgeries per year. One cause of these injuries is organ misidentification by surgeons, making AI-based prevention of bile duct injuries a critical challenge. LPIXEL aims to reduce these and other complications using AI image analysis technology.
