Metagen Therapeutics Raises 190 Million Yen from University-Affiliated Funds

Metagen Therapeutics, which develops medical treatments and pharmaceuticals based on gut microbiome research, completed the first close of Series B Extension in September 2026 by raising approximately 199.96 million yen from two university-affiliated funds: Hokkaido University Green Frontier Fund 1 and Tokai Research Development 1. The Tsuruoka-based company is a venture founded by Juntendo, Keio, and Tokyo Tech universities, focusing on immune diseases, cancer, and neurological disorders. The funding brings cumulative fundraising to 684 million yen and strengthens cooperation with leading research institutions.
