MetroWeather, a Kyoto University-affiliated startup, announced the first close of its Series B funding in September, raising a total of 1.5 billion yen with Incubate Fund and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries as lead investors. The company's cumulative funding reached 3.56 billion yen.

MetroWeather develops Doppler lidar technology using infrared lasers to observe wind conditions in three dimensions and is advancing the practical application of object detection lidar for detecting suspicious drones. The funding will be used for mass production of Doppler lidar systems and development of object detection capabilities for defense equipment.
