Mie University announced on April 17 that it will launch a new entrepreneurship program for first-year students in all faculties. A basic lecture to motivate students to start their own businesses will be made compulsory, and 10 related courses will be offered, while internships with local companies will be expanded.
The first basic lecture will be given by Mr. Yoshiji Hamada, president of IX Holdings. He called on the students to “learn how to think in a way that will enable them to take the first step toward taking on challenges.”
Of the 25 university-launched startups in 2023, the majority originated at Mie University. At the press conference, Dean Kazunari Kobayashi stated that he hopes to at least double this number in the coming years.
