Mizuho Bank Commits to Over 2 Trillion Yen in Startup Investment Over 5 Years — Targeting 500+ IPO/M&A Support Cases

Mizuho Bank announced on October 6, 2026, at the "Mizuho Startup Frontier Summit 2026" its commitment to provide over 2 trillion yen in new investment and financing to startups from fiscal 2026 to 2030. The bank also set targets to support over 500 companies through IPO and M&A initiatives, and cultivate over 100 specialized professionals in startup support.

The 2 trillion yen target represents cumulative new funding execution from 2026 to 2030, including funding for startups that subsequently go public. The 500+ IPO/M&A support cases encompass services as IPO lead underwriter, M&A financing, and financial advisory services. The bank unveiled a new tagline "Making Challenge Japan's Strength" and the "STARTUP MIZUHO" banner to reflect its commitment.

This strategic initiative signals Japan's major financial institutions' active support for the startup ecosystem's growth and demonstrates a shift toward comprehensive banking support for diverse startup exit strategies beyond traditional models.
