Shizuoka announced that it will begin selecting funds to invest in for its Shizuoka Prefecture Fund Support Program, a new initiative in the 2025 fiscal year budget. The prefecture will subsidize the same amount as the certified funds' investment, and will also establish a seed fund that is easier to apply for, even at the research and development stage.
The maximum grant amount for the general category is 40 million yen per case. For the seed category, which targets startups within five years of establishment, the maximum amount is 10 million yen, and the grant rate is doubled compared to the general category.
The selection is expected to be made in September, and the grants to startups are expected to be disbursed around January to March 2026. Applications for funds will be accepted from August 8th to 15th. After document reviews and interviews, the results will be announced in late September.
Subsequently, startups wishing to conduct business within the prefecture will be solicited from October to November, with reviews conducted by year-end.
