Toyota Invests ¥580 Billion in Texas Plant, Relocating Production from Mexico

#funding, #infrastrucure

Toyota announced a $3.6 billion (approximately ¥580 billion) investment in its San Antonio, Texas facility to establish a new production line for the Tacoma pickup truck. The new line is scheduled to commence operation in 2030, with Tacoma production transitioning from Mexico's Baja California plant over approximately four years. This investment is part of Toyota's broader $100 billion additional investment commitment in the US announced in 2025. The relocation aligns with Toyota's "produce where you sell" strategy and responds to changing US trade conditions. The investment is expected to create over 2,000 new jobs and increase annual production capacity by approximately 150,000 units.
