Universities in the Tokai region strengthen support for entrepreneurship

Universities in the Tokai region are strengthening their support for entrepreneurship and working to revitalise the local economy.

  • Nagoya University has established the Tokai Open Innovation Complex (TOIC), which promotes joint research with companies, and has also set up a start-up activity area.
  • Gifu University launched its Entrepreneurship Department in 2020, with five start-ups already created.
  • Mie University has established a Regional Creative Education Centre to promote entrepreneurship education.
  • Suzuka National College of Technology has established an Entrepreneurial Workshop to support student entrepreneurship.
  • Hamamatsu City has established Doer Tribe Hamamatsu, a community for students to foster entrepreneurship and increase entrepreneurial motivation.

These initiatives are expected to increase the number of university-based start-ups in the Tokai region and revitalize the local economy.
