The University of Tokyo’s Matsuo Iwasawa Laboratory has announced the opening of applications for its free AI program, GCI (Global Consumer Intelligence) World.” Delivered entirely online and in English, the program enables students worldwide to study artificial intelligence regardless of location.

In its inaugural year, GCI World drew more than 7,000 applications from 436 universities across 33 countries. The first cohort included an in-person lecture at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and 21 outstanding students were invited to Japan for a five-day study tour.

Designed for students at various academic levels, the program emphasizes hands-on learning through competitions, final projects, and direct interaction with instructors. Early applications close on March 5, 2026 (JST), with final applications due April 2, 2026.
