New York–based venture capital firm Great Wave Ventures announced the opening of applications for GEAP 2026, an equity-free accelerator that offers early-stage founders funding, mentorship, and overseas exposure for Japanese entrepreneurs aiming for global markets.

Under the program, 5 selected teams will each receive JPY2 million in non-repayable funding, with no equity taken. Leveraging its track record of investing in more than 60 US startups, Great Wave Ventures will provide six months of hands-on support, spanning product development, early customer acquisition, and fundraising strategy.

GEAP 2026 is open to founders at the idea stage, with no requirement for prior company incorporation. Applications are also accepted from students, side-project teams, and entrepreneurs based both in Japan and overseas. In the latter half of the program, all selected teams will participate in an overseas training program in New York and Boston, including meetings and pitch opportunities with local venture capital firms and accelerators.

Great Wave Ventures may consider follow-on investments of up to JPY50 million for startups that demonstrate strong growth potential and strategic alignment. Applications are open until March 31, 2026.
