A sustainable startup aiming to create a system independent of mass production and mass disposal by utilizing kapok, a tree fruit native to Southeast Asia, to develop lightweight, functional materials for fashion.

Founded in 2022 as a startup originating from Kyoto Prefectural University, Future Food R&D Center focuses on the development of rice cultivation technologies centered on “Kyo-no-Yume (Kyoto Dream),” a dwarf rice variety approximately 20 cm tall. This variety enables multi-layer and year-round cultivation in indoor facilities. Leveraging its suitability for grain production in plant factories, the company envisions food production in repurposed schools, vacant urban buildings, and arid regions. In addition, the company conducts research in environmentally sustainable agriculture and edible insects as core research themes, expanding into product development and consulting services. It also engages in the sale of Kyo-no-Yume seeds and related products, as well as contract research projects.

As a startup company originating from the University of Hyogo, we are developing perovskite solar cells that could serve as core power sources, leveraging features such as the use of indium-free glass substrates (FTO), high durability, and manufacturing methods using printing technology entirely in atmospheric conditions.
