Optogenetics is an innovative neural photostimulation technology, with significant contributions from Japanese researchers whose expertise is highly regarded worldwide. Close collaboration with Nagoya Institute of Technology and Kyoto University is advancing the development of high-sensitivity rhodopsins specialized for vision restoration. This technology overcomes the longstanding issue of insufficient light sensitivity in the field of vision restoration. Furthermore, through joint research with Keio University School of Medicine, applied research on the foundational technology is progressing toward the practical realization of the world’s first gene therapy for vision restoration. The goal is to offer new treatment options for patients suffering from blindness or severe visual impairments.

Our company is a R&D driven biotechnology firm specializing in therapeutic and diagnostic seeds for pancreatic cancer. KDDD (Kyoto Drug Discovery and Development) is a spin-off company from Kyoto University.
