Salus Laboratory is a startup company established in January 2022 as a venture originating from Osaka Metropolitan University. Based on research and development of plant-derived functional materials, the company promotes the development and commercialization of multifunctional foods in the health and beauty fields. Guided by scientific evidence, we aim to create products that support cognitive health and extend healthy life expectancy. Our mission is to contribute to healthy longevity by scientifically advancing the concept of “food as medicine.”

By utilizing DNA as a functional organic material, we are developing a “DNA linker technology” that enables precise conjugation of antibodies with drugs and functional molecules, alongside related applications such as cell adhesion and enzyme-free nucleic acid detection. Our unique molecular design enhances the performance and multifunctionality of diverse materials, establishing foundational technologies for ADC drug development, 3D cell models, and diagnostic platforms. Furthermore, we expand these technologies into research support and collaborative R&D to accelerate industrial application and societal implementation.

We are a company that researches, develops, manufactures, and sells glycoconjugates, such as glycoproteins and glycopeptides. The development of ADCs using glycan linkers is progressing in the pharmaceutical industry, and we are capable of conducting basic research and contract-based research on these products as well as supplying large quantities of API raw materials. We are also conducting new research and development using glycans, including in mRNA vaccines and other macromolecular LNPs. Our in-house glycosylated somatostatin is currently undergoing clinical trials (Phase 2a), and we plan to out-license the technology in the future.

With more than 30 years of experience in developing tactile and sensory measurement technologies, Jun Wada founded Hapquitous in 2023 upon turning 60. Guided by the mission of “bringing the potential of sensation and perception to anyone, anywhere,” Hapquitous developed Pain Compass®, a novel device based on the Thermal Grill Illusion (TGI). The system provides a three-minute assessment that objectively evaluates stress-related hypersensitivity in the brain and visualizes presenteeism—conditions that typically remain hidden in the workplace. Hapquitous offers an integrated solution that connects measurement → intervention (acupuncture, exercise, psychological support) → follow-up assessment, enabling early detection and improvement of employee well-being. Hapquitous is currently conducting collaborative research with ten institutions, including Kyoto Tachibana University, Kio University, and the University of Tokyo School of Medicine.

A startup developing mass-producible platelet preparations using technology to generate platelets from human iPS cells. It aims to provide stable supplies to medical settings in developed and developing countries facing blood donation shortages, thereby supporting transfusion medicine.
