After capturing global imagination with its previous editions, DIG SHIBUYA returns in 2026 for its third installment as Tokyo’s premier immersive cultural event, at the intersection of art, technology, and urban life. Over three days—from February 13 to February 15—DIG SHIBUYA will transform the streets and public spaces of Shibuya, turning Tokyo’s trendsetting district into a living experimental canvas where creatives, technologists, and the public can rethink how we experience cities, culture, and innovation.

DIG SHIBUYA is a cultural initiative organized by the SHIBUYA CREATIVE TECH COMMITTEE in partnership with the Japan Arts Council, Agency for Cultural Affairs, Shibuya City, and other local partners. Its core mission is to fuse cutting-edge technologies—including Web3, AI, XR, and more—with artistic expression to create uplifting, interactive experiences integrated throughout the urban environment. Programs range from large-scale outdoor exhibitions and performances to conferences and collaborative art tech experiments.
The festival kicks off at SHIBUYA STREAM Hall with the Opening Event & Meetup, where artists, technologists, designers, and curious visitors can dive into discussions around the theme of City × Art × Technology. It’s both a networking opportunity and a showcase of forward-thinking ideas shaping creative industries today.

After the runaway success of their performance last year, Digital Garage is back in 2026 with their new drone show: Earthshot! After sunset on Saturday evening, a fleet of drones will paint the night sky above Yoyogi Park with dynamic, tech-driven visuals merging aerial choreography and artistic performance. This event is part of the official partner program and promises an unforgettable highlight of the festival.

During the afternoon on Saturday, Shibuya Koen-dori will be transformed into Theatron; a 360-degree outdoor stage where everyday city life blends with art. Passersby become both audience and performer amid the city’s daily rhythm.
As with previous editions, DIG SHIBUYA 2026 spreads across public spaces within walking distance around Shibuya, turning the city into a sprawling experimental playground. Programs encompass a variety of artistic mediums and technologies—from interactive art installations to collaborative showcases between global creators and local audiences.
While the full lineup is detailed on the official site, confirmed partners include leading cultural and tech organizations such as MUTEK Japan, PARCO, J-WAVE, and NTT EAST, among many others.

DIG SHIBUYA continues to make waves as one of Japan’s most forward-looking cultural festivals—not simply because it showcases art and tech on their own, but because it places them within the living fabric of Shibuya’s streets, plazas, and public spaces. By encouraging participation from residents, visitors, students, and industry professionals, the event invites everyone to question, experience, and shape the future of urban creativity together.
