Japanese warehouse automation startup Rapyuta Robotics has secured financing from the UPSIDER BLUE DREAM Fund, operated by UPSIDER Capital, as demand for logistics automation continues to accelerate across Japan. The company said the funding will support the expansion of its cloud robotics platform “rapyuta.io,” which coordinates multiple robots through cloud-based systems for warehouse and manufacturing operations.
Rapyuta Robotics provides a range of automation products including its “PA-AMR” autonomous mobile robots, “ASRS” automated warehouse systems, and automated forklifts. The company says its technology can more than double warehouse picking productivity. Its systems have already been deployed by major Japanese operators including Honda LogiCom, Kokubu Group, and Nippon Shuppan Hanbai.
Founded in 2014, Rapyuta Robotics is led by CEO Mohanarajah Gajan, who previously worked on cloud robotics research projects including RoboEarth after earning a PhD from ETH Zurich. The company said the new financing will help deepen robotics adoption in Japan’s logistics sector while also accelerating its international expansion efforts.
