Sagamihara City and Kanagawa Prefecture have established a new consortium under the “Greater Linear Startup Network (GLiS)” initiative, aiming to build a wide-area startup ecosystem centered around Hashimoto Station.
The GLiS Consortium brings together a diverse group of stakeholders—including universities, research institutions, corporations, startups, government bodies, investors, and financial institutions—to support the full lifecycle of innovation. The initiative focuses particularly on deep tech, promoting everything from R&D and demonstration to commercialization and social implementation.
By connecting regional assets such as technology, talent, and testing environments, GLiS seeks to create a sustainable pipeline of high-impact startups while also encouraging new business development among established companies.
The consortium will serve as a platform for strategic alignment and collaboration, supported by working groups focused on areas such as incubation, startup growth, industry-academia collaboration, and manufacturing partnerships.
Looking ahead, GLiS plans to expand its network, accelerate real-world implementation projects, and strengthen support systems for startups.
